Vermont was actually the fourth state, but it was the first state to legalize civil unions.
The other states are: Mass, Connecticut and Iowa.
Oh, and be sure to buy a New York Post tomorrow (Thursday) and look for the name under the photos on the pirate story.

You are correct that other states also have legal same sex marriages. The other states the marriages were legalized in the courts. Vermont is the only state to legislate it.
